The R.E. Hopkins Center located at the University of Rochester is focused on undergraduate education in optical design and engineering. This center is committed to teach students to design and build optical systems; to use current high-end instrumentation for metrology and fabrication; to connect the fundamentals of optics to current and emerging applications in optical engineering and applied optics. With the emergence of freeform optics in our field of optical engineering, students of the R.E. Hopkins Center will, under fellowships (e.g. Xerox Eng. Res. Fellows)), Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) , and targeted industry support, work side by side the graduate students of the Center for Freeform Optics in various research projects funded by CeFO or related independent research.
